My Lord and Savior, you have warned me about the dangers of selfish ambition and empty conceit (Phil. 2:3), but I confess that I am sometimes so determined to be proved right that I speak the truth in unloving ways (Eph. 4:15) and so do real and needless damage to the unity of your church. Grant me wisdom and self-control so that I might bear witness to the truth only in ways that build up love and unity in your church; in the Name of the crucified and risen Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.”
