“Lord Jesus, over and over you said to people, ‘Follow me.’ I want to follow you. I want to make your life the model for my own life. But I find that I stumble at many points. You forgave from your cross and call me to do likewise, but I find resentments and grudges hiding in my heart. You said that you came to serve not to be served, but I find that I really like being the boss. You were drawn to the least of these, our brothers and sisters, but all too often I find that I am drawn to the folks who seem to have it all together. You embodied mercy, but I find that my impatience and judging often overwhelm mercy in me. I aspire to make your life the model for my own, but the reality of my life falls short of my aspirations. By your Spirit, grant me your help that my life might more and more reflect your life into this broken and troubled world. Amen.”
