“O God of the blessed and the fallen Adam,
of the righteous and adulterous David,
of the Samaritan woman who was the wife of four and the mistress of a fifth and who also was the evangelizer of her town,
of Peter, who was bold and who also denied you:
You are the God of wretched and ruined men and women throughout the ages,
whom you have redeemed and restored in your grace and mercy.
It is through just such as these
that your kingdom breaks out in the world.
May I also—broken and remade—be an instrument of your redemption;
for the glory of your Name. Amen.”
