Discipleship is the calling of every one who claims the name of Christ.  Discipleship extend to every portion of our lives without exception.  The third sermon in a four sermon series on sex and the Christian faith, I preached this on January 22, 2012 at North Presbyterian Church, Elmira, NY.  Prior to the beginning of the recording, the congregation responsively read Colossians 1:15-23.  The recording begins with a reading of Luke 18:18-30.  Click on the link below to listen to the sermon.

  1. Here’s the verse that comes to mind when I see the picture of the Shepherd’s staff on the stained glass window you chose to accompany this post – “See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:24 Let this verse be our prayer.
Lord Jesus, let us love You with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength. May we love You enough to give you our whole selves and follow where you lead us. All of our possessions and selfish gains are nothing next to the treasure of eternal life that you offer. Let us follow you and not look back. Our love for You leads us to obedience. Our obedience leads us to the joy that You so want us to have. Our obedience will lead us to the peace we can only find in You. We praise You, Lord Jesus. Amen
