Sermon #64–Death Defeated, Part 1: What is Death?

Death is all around us.  It is woven into the fabric of our world.  It’s not supposed to be like that.  But it is like that.  The Bible has a lot to say about death, because we need to understand death–its origins, its meaning, its consequences for us, and its remedy.  This message is the first of a four part series that I preached on the topic of death.  Here I lay out the three types of death that the Bible identifies.  God is not satisfied to leave us helpless and hopeless in the face of death.  Through Christ, death is defeated, and we can live without fear.  What does the weight and heft of the Bible have to tell us about what God has done for us to set us free from the power of death in our lives and in our eternity?  Listen on and find out.
