“The Act of Discipleship”
Pastor Gary A. Chorpenning
Preached at Venice Presbyterian Church
in Cecil Township, PAon Good Friday, April 3, 2015

Some of the most moving and powerful examples of discipleship found in the Bible are often not the “big names” but are rather “minor” players.  Two such people figure at the heart of the narrative we look at here — Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.  At tremendous personal risk and cost to themselves, at just the most dangerous moment, these two men stepped out of the shadows and publicly identified with Jesus of Nazareth.  These two men show us the pattern of discipleship that is called for more and more in this moment in the life of the North American Church.

Read: 1 John 4:7-12 and John 19:38-42

Then, listen to: The Act of Discipleship
