Who am I? How do I measure myself? Do I have the courage — or the faith — to look at myself as I really am in light of who I was meant to be? Why would I want to do that?
“Repentence” sounds like such an old-fashioned notion — a word uttered by a be-whiskered preacher in a candle-lit church. Yet, there it is at every turn in my Bible. What does it mean? What are we to do with it? Why should we even care?
In this sermon, we explore this ancient yet still urgent notion. Here in Matthew’s gospel John the Baptist calls us back to our true identity.
Read Matthew 3:1-12.
Then listen to “Getting Ready for Jesus: Turning toward Life.”
