If “religion” is humanity’s effort to know God, then Christianity is not a “religion.” The heart of the Christian faith is not our endeavor to know God, but rather God’s determination to make himself known to us. Here in 1 John 1, the apostle points us to the God who “reveals” himself, the God who is utterly committed to making himself known to us.
I am a husband, father, and grandfather. A small, town about fifteen miles west of Pittsburgh is home currently, though several other places have served that purpose before this. I maintain a YouTube channel of Bible teaching videos and a podcast of Bible teaching audio. I like to make things in my woodshop. I like taking photographs and use a lot of them in my blog posts. I go fishing in the local streams and lakes when I can. For thirty-nine years, I served as a pastor of churches in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.

Color is a beautiful gift. Your picture makes me think of the fact that to someone who is color blind, red in a green woods would be undetected – always there but never seen. For those who are given the ability to see in color, the red vividly stands out.
Give us eyes to see you, Lord, how you are working in and through our lives.
